We are nature. We are the product of 13 billion years of universal and planetary evolution and it's only in the last few generations that we've lost our deep, direct connection to the natural world.

How can we know ourselves if we don't know nature? How can we feel whole when we're missing our very foundation?

Feeling whole and knowing ourselves arises spontaneously when we learn to connect to nature, not through the mind, but through our senses, emotions, body, and energetic system.

The good news: Learning how to build deeper relationship with nature doesn't require moving to a cabin in the woods or getting a degree in environmental science. You can connect with nature in a meaningful transformative way right now, no matter who or where you are.

Nature is right outside.

It's also in you.

It's everywhere, and it's waiting to guide you, if you know how to connect.

Sounds simple right?

Yes and no.

Our disconnection from nature is the result of conditioning.

As children, we were instinctively connected to the outdoors, but our families, communities, and culture taught us to turn away. Throughout our life, we've accumulated mental barriers based on age, gender, health, race, class, and politics. We have conscious and subconscious beliefs about why we can't, shouldn't, or don't want to be touched by nature.

☁️ ☁️ Does it ever feel like ☁️ ☁️:

  • Engaging with nature requires complex, masculine-leaning skills and endless amounts of expensive equipment?

  • Meaningful outdoor experiences need to be elaborate or costly. Ex: Backpacking in the mountains, sea kayaking, or hiking a volcano in the tropics?

  • Learning about plants, animals, etc is too complicated, left-brain, or intellectual. It's for people who are science-y or have a knack for it?

  • In order to deepen your relationship with the outdoors, you have to be young and physically fit? Rich? White?

  • In connecting with the natural world, you'll activate deep, overwhelming grief for our planet?

In our culture, there is a limited narrative of HOW you can connect to nature and WHO you need to be in order to do it.

That's why I created Homecoming.

Homecoming is a 4-day retreat and 6-week course that teaches you how to connect with nature on your terms: It's all about your personal where, how, and why. After all, your connection with nature is an expression of your true self.

And, because we're all nature, everyone's invited to the party. If you have an inkling that nature's for you but you don't know where to start, that's ok. That's part of what taking this course is for.

To connect with our environment, we need to unlearn our disconnection. We need to dismantle the beliefs that are blocking our spontaneous, effortless relationship with the natural world.

Once we can deepen our intimacy with the natural spaces around us, we can deepen our intimacy with the natural spaces within us (aka our inner nature, our intuition, our essence).

It is only then that we can cultivate an inner stability, get clarity on our sacred work, have the courage to take aligned action, and ultimately quantum leap into the life our dreams.

But how does Homecoming support you on your journey back to nature and, ultimately, back to yourself?

  1. Unlearning is the key to re-connecting with the nature around you and within you. However, these blocks and feelings of separateness can be complex and partly in our subconscious. I will guide you through the process of re-naturing to deepen and bring vitality to your relationship with yourself.

  2. Connecting to nature requires a commitment to inner work. It leads us to confront old, entrenched beliefs about what we're capable of, as well as our relationship to discomfort and the unknown. Because the outdoors is a perfect mirror of our inner nature, we're often asked to examine our basic identity and values. Homecoming is designed to facilitate and catalyze this process. In this course, you'll be supported by 1) a teacher who has already gone on this journey 2) a tight-knit group of others experiencing the same process as yourself.

  3. I will teach you how to experience the benefits of nature anywhere, anytime, which will help you cultivate an inner stability that will be a critical anchor as you navigate life’s inevitable twists and turns. When you connect to the natural world through your senses, emotions, body, and energy field, you discover that its healing power and intelligence is everywhere! Learn to hike without being stuck in your head. Feel excited and inspired everyday by the landscapes of your neighborhood. Experience freedom, freshness, and creativity in your work and personal life.

What people are saying:

“Homecoming is a gift that I am so grateful I gave myself and wish I could share with everyone. It exceeded my expectations and is such a special experience that is difficult to put into words. Alyssa is a magical being that cares so deeply about helping others, especially by establishing a relationship through the healing powers of the natural world. Her passion for this work is inspiring and attitude is infectious. The lessons I learned and the people I met during Homecoming I will always cherish and be thankful for. Ps- It is a ton of fun too!!!” - Lauren C.

Homecoming was one of the most expansive and transformative experiences of my life. Showing up in a community setting with compassion and vulnerability was challenging at first, and hard to let go of at the end. Alyssa's care for the living world around her shines through each workshop. I soon realized that my personal inner knowing to get back to nature at the start of Homecoming is a shared value of most of us because it's who we are and where we belong. Alyssa guides you back to help find that deeply buried authentic self, with nature poised as the foundational tool.” - Carrie C.

“Homecoming is magical. Alyssa is wonderful. She provided a safe and warm environment from the moment I met her to the very end. I achieved exactly what this retreat was all about - I returned home to myself. My inner fire was dimming out before this retreat, and the retreat stoked something inside. Now my inner fire is burning bright again AND I met amazing people! I would do it again in a heartbeat. If you have any inkling to do it, do it.” - Mia D.
